It is normal to feel some type of worry and concern about general or specific things in your lives. However, when these worries and concerns become part of your daily life and they affect your emotional well-being; then, you could be suffering from an Anxiety Disorder. In general, when someone feels anxious, the person feels that she/he is not having control of their lives. The person feels fear of the unknown, of the future and as a result, feels vulnerable as they do not have control over what they do not know.

Types of Anxiety Disorders are General Anxiety, Social Anxiety or Social Phobia, Panic Attacks, Phobias and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Sometimes we are not aware of our feelings and emotions and how they are affecting our lives. However, if you have been experiencing for a period of time: low mood, sadness, loneliness, emptiness, anger, frustrations, negative thoughts about yourself, poor self-esteem and self-confidence, tiredness, poor appetite or overeating, poor sleep hygiene or oversleeping, intrusive thoughts about death or wishing not been here to avoid your problems, amongst other symptoms, then, it is quite likely that you have a Depression Disorder.

We include psychological, emotional and/or physical abuse from events that happened during childhood and your present days. Someone with emotional traumas presents with a combination of anxiety and depressive symptoms as well as guilt feelings that are affecting the emotional and psychological well-being.

Therapy tries to assist both of you in having a better understanding of your relationship. The goal is that you can reflect on your own behaviour, on your feelings toward your partner, husband or wife and on what each of you is willing to change or modify in your relationship to improve it. In the end, the idea is to become a team, if that is possible.

Like depression and anxiety, it is normal to feel angry when we feel frustrated when something does not happen as we wish or expect. However, if you usually feel excessive anger and react in aggressive or violent ways to events or circumstances that are not expected for that reaction and it causes problems for yourself and for your interpersonal relationships; so, you could have anger issues.

It could be the result of unresolved emotional conflicts from childhood. Someone with this problem tries to cover, deny and/or mascaraed their emotional issues by having unhealthy and self-destructive behviours.

Ascent Psychology was established in 2014 by Francisco J. Rivas Rivero, a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist. He provides counselling and psychological services to patients referred to under the Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), Health Insurance and private patients.
