Our mission at Ascent Psychology is to offer a supportive and caring environment to help each client achieve healthy psychological functioning and wellbeing with a highly experienced qualified clinical psychologist.

A little About Us

Ascent Psychology was established in 2014 by Francisco J. Rivas Rivero, a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist. He provides counselling and psychological services to patients referred under the Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), Health Insurance and private patients.

Meet Our Therapists

Francisco is a qualified and experienced Senior Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist. Since 2002 he has worked in a variety of settings, including private and public health services in South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and overseas. He provides a diverse range of psychological and therapeutic counseling services to adolescents and adults of all ages and backgrounds who present with emotional and psychological problems.

He has a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and a graduate qualification as a Psychotherapist. He is registered as a psychologist under the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with an endorsement in clinical psychology. He is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), a member of its college of clinical psychologists, as well as a member of the (APS) Psychoanalytically-Oriented Psychology Interest Group. Francisco also is registered as an Allied Health provider with Medicare Australia.

Glenda is a Senior Mental Health Specialist and Psychotherapist with more than twenty years of working experience in the sector. She has a Bachelor and master’s degree in psychology from Central University of Venezuela and Military Hospital Dr. Carlos Arvelo placed in Caracas-Venezuela.

Since 2000, Glenda has worked in a variety of settings, including private and public health services in New South Wales and overseas. Glenda provides a diverse range of psychotherapy and counselling services to children, adolescents, and adults of all ages and backgrounds who present with emotional and mental health difficulties.

In her professional career, Glenda has been orientated to support people suffering from mood disorders, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, trauma with special emphasis on post-traumatic stress disorder as well as domestic violence. Her treatment modalities are based on Psychodynamic Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Schema Therapy.

Glenda is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and currently works for the Australian Government Department of Human Services through the Transcultural Mental Health Centre.
